Welcome it would read in larger letters, preferably green with maybe a grey background, but then again that could be an eyesore. The sign would stand out though, the colors right now are not important. But it would be colorful, or colourful, nonetheless in order to greet everyone to the colorful community beyond the sign. Welcome.
There will be a squirrel waiting on the tree trunk, his name is Harry and he will greet everyone one by one as they bicycle their way into the town (No Cars Beyond This Point, Sorry If It Inconveniences You But It Also Inconveniences Nature) as Harry smiles and holds his nuts. He waves as you pass through.
Keep walking and you'll see the trees, as they too greet those entering with a waving hand. On the right there a bus stop for the bus that goes through town to help those who refuse to, or just never learned how to, ride a bike... and it is completely water powered and is a marvelous achievement in ingenuity.
On some of the corners there are prostitutes, which also smile but in a more, "Hey I need some cash and can make you happy," sort of way. They know the danger they put themselves through every night they stand on those curbs, all the male and female professional love makers... well ... maybe not "love" but hardcore sex. But this is their choice, and do not say they are forced into it because there are a variety of jobs they can seek, but prostitution is no more degrading than being a lawyer neither.
And occasionally they work during the wrong time of month, and we have seen our fair share of that, but we prepare ourselves. Rather them damage themselves with illegal procedures, there is an abortion center right in the center of town. It does not receive much business, but when it does, it is safe and all options are measured before the final plunge.
All of the religions can be freely expressed, all voices freely heard, and all petitions can be made. In fact, there is a protest on the steps of the abortion clinic later in the week on Tuesday, if you would like, Harry will gladly hand you the flyer.
Civil disobedience and boycotts of major corporations are a think of the norm, but others continue their shopping extravaganza giving into the supply and demand free market. Walmart does not exist here, but it is okay because we have other businesses that care for the workers and consumers alike.
The law includes all people under that settle beyond the Welcome sign at the gate. No matter where they came from or where they are going, they have the right to marry freely to whomever they chose, the right to vote for whatever they want to vote, they can visit their loved ones in the hospital, and they can get hired for whatever job they have the skills for and can obtain an education without discrimination. This not to say anyone can get accepted, in fact I was denied for art school the other day, but I do not blame them (my dog looked like it was an anorexic hippo), but everyone has the right and ability to apply and have a fair and equal opportunity and chance to get it.
Animals can not be tested on, or else we may run out of gate keepers like Harry; before him there was Marsha the Duck, she unfortunately passed on though. Animals are protected by law from being poached, hunted, and slaughtered in cruel ways, although due to the fact that we are indeed animals ourselves, it is not to say we are all vegetarians, although many are.
Gambling and drinking are legal for all above 16 although monitored to ensure an abuse is not occurring. And the media has few censorships, as a parent should be more incorporated in the lives of their children then the media companies that put out their entertainment. Plus, what is a profane word but just another word Webster has in his dictionary? And what is nudity but just something seen in the mirror before hopping into the shower?
Finally, we are using stem cell research to try and better the human race and cure diseases that have the potential to devastate the world. And all of the taxes that are paid give results that are visible to the population... roads, better education, and medical and retirement aid.
Welcome the sign still reads. And if you don't like to have the ability to make mistakes, choose your career without ridicule, have the opportunity for a career, have the aid of the government, and to respect everyone and everything around you and have those same people respect you the same... the sign will read Turn Around... Neither of Us Wants You Here
"A world that restricts you acts like a plastic bag over your head."
